For most laptops a screen replacement costs far less than a new machine. I check the part price first and tell you before you commit. If the laptop is old enough that the repair isn't sensible, I'll say so.

Can a cracked screen damage my files?
No. Your files are on the drive, not the screen. I keep the drive untouched during the repair.
Can you repair a MacBook screen?
Ask me with the model and year. Some Apple screens are costly, so I'll give you the real figure and say if it isn't worth it.
